summer, why do i love thee?

i was browsing through my pictures to put one on my desk top and decided on this one...

the last two mornings it looked like this...

summer...why do i love thee?!

the table in the first picture fell apart and is now firewood.

it was replaced with a GW bargain.

the point?
life is seasons!
summer is my favorite season -
but i've learned to be content with winter...
to live, truly live, each season.
there'll be changes in the seasons -
things will fall apart,
the winters are cold, dark and feel long.
but like the two pictures above,
the foundation is the same.
God is the same,
yesterday and today and forever...
A-MEN!

decluttered!

i decluttered!

i decided early in December to share my excess goodies with my girls -

well, it WAS excess...but GOOD excess! :)

when we downsized six years ago, i commented when this area is full it's time to clean out again.

that time came!

- my storage room -

i had even forgotten what i had and did save a few things.

i put the girl's names in a basket and pulled their names,
then the last one got to choose first.
after six rounds, it became a 'pick what you want' jamboree!

it felt really good to watch it walk away!

in the other room the grandkids were having a party of their own.

 (she really isn't picking her nose!)

 and P is only posing!

the shelves are empty and i can pick up more goodies rearranged!
all this doesn't mean i'll stop thrifting or doing yard sales...
it merely allows me thefun and freedom to do it again! :)

2010 - 2011

it's been a busy week end!

thursday, we traveled to IN  for a wedding on friday,

then spent the rest of the week end with sis-ta Lil.

before i 'leave' 2010, i want to post this picture...

these little darlings came to our house to SING christmas songs to me!

 this is our grandaughter S (second on left)  school class with their teacher.

it was sweet!

they also left a plate of cookies...

i ate most of them! :)

i have no pictures of the wedding due to a request to not to take any;

however,

the company was delightful and the food was good!

two highlights from the week end...

- one -

spending time with sis-ta Lil and Gary was the best.

we rang in the new year with food and games.

our time with them was relaxing and delightful!

 visiting Horton's!

check them out, especially their blog on their Christmas display.

  i took advantage of the forty percent off of christmas wares. 

and to my dismay, i forgot my camera.

they'll be making a few major changes this winter that will greatly enhance their display.

before we left, we were treated with a quarter pound of

 free, delicious fudge they make themselves.

i'm looking forward to going there again!
