A Little About Me and Fleur Cottage...

Hello and welcome to Fleur Cottage! My name is Esther and I live in southeastern Pennsylvania with my husband. Fleur Cottage is our 'empty-nest' home and we moved here in our mid-fifties. We have five children and sixteen grandchildren and are still counting! I love living in our 'dawdy haus' where we are close to the conveniences of shops. I grew up with eleven other siblings in a Mennonite home - Hubs was born into an Amish home with one sister but his parents left that way of life when he was five.

I was fifty before I knew what decor I liked and stumbled across Shabby Chic decorating and I was hooked! I love creamy whites, soft greens and soft grays with some natural wood thrown in the mix. My summer hobby is gardening - my winter hobby is painting small pieces of furniture and other projects but I hate painting walls! Old dishes is another favorite, especially the ones that have a grainy look.

When I started blogging, I look at the world with a new eye - the eye of a camera lens and I'm amazed how it has given me another perspective of life itself. What an amazing amount of inspiration I've learned from joining this community of people from all over the world!

I don't know how many loves I can use to say I love your beautiful cottage. I live in a tiny house in New York City and can only imagine how dreamy it must be to go outside to your garden! I love, love, love the lavender.....my favorite flower now. So fragrant. Thanks for sharing. Diddie at Citicasita

Your hydrangeas are so pretty! I wish I had read your blog before I dug up mine. They looked like your hydrangea "before" picture. Maybe I will plant some again, but this time I will place them in a more suitable location.

Thanks Esther. God Bless.

Your home is beautiful! I want your backyard! :)
Somehow I don't think southwest KS is quite conducive to that, especially since my green thumb is nonexistent!

You have a fascinating back deck and yard! Your garden can be a perfect venue for special occasions such as parties and wedding ceremonies! Having an open fence like this can allow the visitors and passerby to catch a glimpse of your beautiful home, including the exquisite designs of your deck and fence.

Hi! Quick question that's totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My web site looks weird when browsing from my iphone 4. I'm trying to find a theme or plugin that might be
able to fix this issue. If you have any recommendations, please
share. Many thanks!
Feel free to visit my blog post : online shopping

Wow, your home and gardens are beautiful. Just my cup of tea. Thanks for stopping at my blog, forever decorating. For some crazy reason, I quit getting emails when someone makes a comment on my blog. But you asked where I got the document fabric. I purchased it a couple of years ago from an online source, Ballard Designs. They were having a sale and I got it for only $9.99 per yard. Sounds like a lot but this is very heavy and nice fabric, so I was glad to find the sale.
