my microwave...

...i've been thinking...
...thinking about my microwave...
...of how it takes up a lot of space on my counter...
...space i could use in other ways...

...i think about the microwaves and small particles of radiation...
...of how it changes the nutrition in foods...
...so...
...i've been toying around with the idea of taking it out of the kitchen...
...today i banished it out to the garage...

...right outside the door in case i go through withdrawal...
(i know, it's kinda ugly but nobody sees it but me family)

...now i have this instead!
...all of these pieces are thrifty finds...

...i like it!
(this is an experiment!)

...blessedness!

I guess I wasn't subscribed to you back in January and didn't see this post. But wanted to say that we got rid of our microwave just a couple of months after we got married (came with the house, so I didn't feel bad about someone having spent $$ on it for a wedding gift!). Partly for health reasons, but MOSTLY because, in our little kitchen, I could think of 100 other BETTER ways to use that counter space! So, I too, put it in the back room for a while "just in case", later out in the shed, and then finally sold it at our yard sale in the spring. The only time I might miss it is when I forget to plan ahead in thawing butter or cream cheese. Other than that, water baths work well for meat and fruit that needs thawing immediately. And I love the "extra" space (if there is such a thing in a trailer) where our coffee maker and my basket of cookbooks now sit.

I much prefer looking at the pretty vignette you created in that corner, rather than an ugly old microwave.

I can't believe all the wonderful "girly" pieces you find thrift'n'. Oh, well. Better you than me. You actually get to use them. ;)

Blessings,
